A love of urban architecture and an
abiding interest in popular culture inspires much of Brian
Shepherd's work. For him the creative process begins when he stops
and observes quietly amongst the hubbub of modern city life as a way
of identifying unexpected areas of beauty and interest. His intense
and dynamic oil paintings bring elements we might take for granted
to the forefront and question those assumptions we make about the
aesthetic value of the world around us. Born in 1948 and educated in
Salisbury Wiltshire, Brian studied painting and graphics at
Salisbury Art College. He graduated into the advertising industry,
and during his time spent working on paintings and illustrations he
became highly skilled with the airbrush as his preferred painting
medium. In 1985 using his painterly skills and considerable artistic
experience, Brian started a custom art business, working on the
illustration of motorcycles, trucks, guitars and other items, for
which he established a formidable reputation. Since he became a full
time artist, Brian has undertaken an impressive range of commissions
from companies including Harrods of Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols
London, Planet Hollywood Europe and the Arcadia Group as well as for
a number of private collectors. His work is exhibited in galleries
across the UK and Europe. |
