My photographs are landscapes centred around the beautiful open spaces that can be found near to, or even within the city of Newcastle upon Tyne itself, from the River Derwent in Gateshead, to the autumnal splendour of Jesmond Dene. The countryside of Northumberland gives me an opportunity to photograph some of the most beautiful landscapes in England but it is not always the iconic imagery that I am looking to capture. I am constantly experimenting with ways in which to reinterpret and represent this beauty. Ultimately I look to convey and capture a sense of calmness and magic in my photographs, from strobe lit close ups of streams, to newly planted woods on reclaimed pitland.
